INAUGURAL RETREAT June 14-28, 2024
The 2024 Summer Intensive is intended to draw Buddhist women to a two week training retreat to see if the longer program might be a good fit. This will take place at Tara Farms, in Corbett Oregon—a property just outside of Portland owned by a community member who shares our vision of women’s empowerment through this model. For women who decide to apply for the 3-7 year program, this intensive will serving as a launching-off point with our community (click here for more about the longer program). Those women who are not yet ready or who decide this isn’t right for them will benefit from the experience of a rich and dynamic period of training to support their Buddhist practice in whatever form it takes.
This retreat will be rustic as our building projects are in their very early stages. Please plan to come with a spirit of flexibility and collaboration. Review the information on this page and use the form below to apply for the retreat. Application is due by May 25 but please apply early as space is limited; acceptance notification and payment details to secure your spot will be sent within a few days of submission of the application form.
Accommodation and Meals
Retreatants can camp or be housed together in a residential property directly next to the farm. Those in the house will likely be sharing a room with another retreatant and be sleeping on futon mattresses. In both cases, you will be expected to bring your own bedding and towels. Laundry services will be very limited this time.
Texts, food, and bathroom amenities will be provided.
For those with serious allergies, please note: there are dogs, cats, geese, chickens, ducks, and bee hives on the property. We don’t have the infrastructure or people power to accommodate food preferences. All meals will be simple, healthy, and vegetarian.
Costs
This retreat is supported by the Maitripa College and the community which means we have the facility fee for the entire retreat down to $350 per person. Upon acceptance, you will be given the option to pay online to secure your spot, as well as options if you have financial hardship and cannot contribute this amount. If you have financial abundance, you are invited to donate more in support of this project.
